Ahhhh, It’s that time of year were everything cools down and is just the perfect temperature outside. While Pumpkin scents fill the air in homes which is my favorite thing there is also another favorite part of fall that i just love!
Boots, scarves and cardigans Oh my! Not to forget Pumpkin spice from Starbucks!
I also love the colors of the leaves and decorating for fall. Such a fun season.
Burlap seems to be such a huge hit this time of season, The texture and color. So fun. I decided i wanted a burlap table runner and found this lovely chevron print burlap and decided i should go with that.
I am excited to share with you a quick 15 min tutorial on how to make a burlap table runner for this fall.
You will need the following:
2 1/4 Yards of Burlap
Rotary cutter and mat (you can use scissors but i noticed a rotary cutter and mat makes things more accurate)
Sewing Machine
Thread
Seam ripper
I love my table runners to hang out on the sides a little so i cut my burlap 2 1/4 yards by 14″ in width.
My sewing machine is a Singer Sew Mate and my settings were 00 (straight stitch) and it was 5.5 along the seam (if you don’t have that option on your sewing machine sew close to the edge where the foot ends.
Start sewing all the edges of the burlap.
Then with your seam ripper start ripping out some of the burlap strings out . This is how you fray the ends but they wont come apart because of the edges being sewn. You could do this with a pin/needle if you don’t have a seam ripper. Also you can use your hands but you might ruin the stitch by pulling too hard.
Your should now have a beautiful Fray like this:
And that is all to it. Now you have a fancy FALL table runner that your guests will compliment you on. I also love how this specific print will be fantaboulus for halloween!
